This was an extraordinary 5 hour programme conducted by CNBC Awaaz in the light of the threat of FDI in multibrand retail being allowed shortly. The objective was to help the small and medium retailer to gear up for stiff competition by empowering them with knowledge and guidance on Human Resources, Finance, Branding, Customer Management, Store layout, Use of Technology etc.

The Technology panel included Mr. Ajit M. Thadani, C.E.O. of Retailware Softech Pvt. Ltd. who answered questions from the anchors as well as live questions coming in from the field reporters of CNBC from cities like Mumbai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad etc.

This was a program on which 2 case studies were taken up of successful Retail entrepreneurs who are not using technology for managing their businesses. One was a stationary shop – Standard Stationary whose owner Velji Patel shared his apprehensions on technology.

The second was a Mithai shop – D. Damodar Mitahiwala in Dadar whose fourth generation owner Mr. Aditya Acharya manages a flourishing Mithai business but does not have an inkling of how technology can benefit him in managing the Retail part of his business.

Mr. Ajit M. Thadhani, C.E.O. of Retailware Softech Pvt. Ltd. can be seen giving them tips on how to use Barcode and RFID technologies respectively to add a razor sharp edge to their business and put it into Turbo mode. A video case study of Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale of Pune was also shown wherein they use RFID tokens to handle huge volumes and traffic very successfully.
